How to Pick a Realtor…

So you have decided you want to buy or sell a home and you are ready to take the next step!  At this point you have probably talked to family members, friends, and colleagues, all of which have likely given you enough advice to make your head spin. But don’t worry, figuring out where to start is always the hardest part of the process.  Step one is knowing that you need the assistance of a professional, so you are already on the right track!  Here are a few of my tips for picking a brokerage and ultimately a realtor that is going to serve you the best.

Recommendations are a great place to start when looking into hiring a realtor.  There are a ton of great realtors out there and by taking stock of the ones with rave reviews from people you already trust, you are able to narrow down your search tremendously!

However, before pulling the trigger on a particular realtor take the time to consider the following questions…

  • Who was this realtor/ brokerage recommended to you by?  And are you looking for a similar experience to the person who recommended them?
  • How many years of experience does this realtor have?
  • How up to date are they on current market trends?
  • What did their google reviews say?
  • Do they have a strong online presence?
  • Do they operate in your desired area?

After all of these considerations, I would also recommend that you take the time to see how you interact together and if you get along. Working with a realtor can sometimes be a longer process that requires you to spend a considerable amount of time together, so you will want to work with someone you actually enjoy.  Having that rapport and creating a relationship built on trust and reliability will only ensure that you have the most positive experience.  Don’t be afraid to take your time in choosing your real estate professional to make sure you are starting off on the strongest, best foot possible.

I hope these tips help steer you in the right direction when it comes to picking the best realtor for you and your particular situation!  As always feel free to connect with me directly if you have any more questions or fill out my contact page if you’d like to explore what it might be like to work with me.
